There has always been a need for heroes who were willing to understand and consciously live up to truth no matter how inconvenient.
Every generation needs individuals who are willing to be a source of illumination for others. This is part of our duty of “passing the torch” to the generations that will follow us.
One reason for this need is that there are forces constantly trying to manipulate us in order to keep us focused on things that serve their purposes.
Many of our information sources feed us a highly unbalanced diet of fear and darkness. Our daily dread supplement prevents us from focusing on the honorable things within us.
Each of us has immense capabilities to improve the world around us, but only we can choose to use them. As Paul Rosenberg puts it, if we spend our entire lives reacting to darkness and threat, we never learn to be a source of light.
Instead, we’ll stay locked into our tight little shell, talking about everything bad that happens in the world.
Even worse, we’ll find ourselves seeking more and more bad news because it justifies having our shell in the first place.
Becoming a beacon of truth starts with being honest with ourselves. The more self aware we are, the less levers we provide others to manipulate us.
Each of us has benefited from others who have brought greater light into our lives.
Each of us has a duty to share the light we’ve been given.
