Family As a Long Term Investment

The value of family is best seen when looking at our lives as a whole

It can be challenging to give proper attention to the things which have the greatest value in the long run.

By long run, I’m talking about the things which will matter most when looking at our lives as a whole.

For instance, what are we doing to build or strengthen family bonds?

Family is the most basic unit of society—next to the individual. It can be our surest refuge in times of trouble.

Of course, family can also be the source of intense drama and heartache.

But, generally, it is the most stable and loving institution available to us.

When all other institutions are crumbling around us, the family can still continue—if we are willing to work together.

Whatever difficulties may be a part of family life, it’s still considered a supreme complement to tell someone they are like family.

None of these friends or family members are perfect people.

Every single one of us are fighting our own unique struggles as we go through life.

Each of us has a finite amount of attention and moral energy to expend each day.

If all our effort is spent arguing on social media, we are likely missing some prime opportunities to strengthen the connections we have with others.

Family and friendships improve our lives here in the present and in the long run.

Let us choose carefully which gets the bulk of our attention.
