Finding Your Superpower

Leaning into our hang ups can convert them into strengths

Most of us have wished that we had superpowers, at some point in our lives.

In reality, each of us does possess superpowers, although not of the type we typically would imagine.

Instead of being able to fly, to shrug off bullets or to shoot laser beams from our eyes, our superpowers are easy to overlook.

For instance, some of the most organized and efficient people out there are individuals with OCD who have harnessed their tendency and turned it into a superpower.

Artists and those who create beauty have the superpower of being able to see and hear details that others don’t.

Likewise, those who live to educate the ignorant, to liberate the captives and to heal the sick have tapped into something that brings them joy and made it their superpower.

This is by no means a comprehensive list.

It’s simply an observation that the quirks that make us unique can become something that measurably blesses the world when we lean into them.

When we take a moment to really look at the people around us, it’s not hard to see that every single person has a gift that is theirs alone.

These gifts are not dependent on age, intelligence, beauty or wealth.

Find the time to think about the things that bring you the greatest sense of joy— things you’d do even if you weren’t being paid for it.

You might just discover a superpower of your own.
