You don’t have to be particularly jaded to pick up on a growing sense of inhumanity.
The good news is that we can each improve our individual humanity by acknowledging a handful of essential truths.
For instance, politics is a poison that turns everything it touches into a power struggle.
When politicians pit us against each other like dogs fighting over scraps, it’s time to withdraw our consent.
Pay more attention to the direction things are headed and less attention to simply what is happening at the moment.
Misinformation is everywhere.
Most news media content today is either not quite correct or thoroughly worked over before reaching us.
Therefore, we must be willing to become tireless truth seekers on those things which matter most to us.
Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and comforting those who are brokenhearted or lonely doesn’t require advanced degrees or certification.
It simply requires the willingness to recognize that the differences we tend to obsess over tend to matter very little in the long run.
A person who is kind to others is less likely to become fear- and enemy-driven as some manipulators would like us to be.
We can help others recognize these truths by the power of our example.
These actions may not solve all the world’s problems.
They will, however, make us less likely to contribute to the growing inhumanity, even if by accident.
